As many of you may know, I recently welcomed my third child, Valentin, into the world. The pregnancy went smoothly, and he is perfection. Though, for me, this time around has been completely different. After the birth, I noticed that I was feeling overwhelmed. I had two older children that really needed me. My daughter, Estela, is an active first grader who just switched to a new school. My oldest son, Marcelo, is in the attachment phase that many two-year-olds experience. I was concerned about the adjustments associated with incorporating a new baby into the family. How could I balance it all?
On top of that, I was experiencing challenges nursing Valentin. After just a few weeks, I felt like giving up but also felt guilty because I had nursed my other two children for ten months. It was then that I decided to go to a breastfeeding support group. It was comforting to be in a room full of women in the exact same position I was. I was so grateful to them for sharing their stories. I felt connected. I was not alone. I felt a million times better and gained the strength to continue nursing. This community of moms lifted me up and helped me through a challenging time.
Recently, I had the opportunity to be in another room full of inspiring women at a national launch event for Dr. Smith’s Diaper Rash Ointment in Dallas. The makers of this great product invited mom bloggers from across Texas to celebrate its recently announced availability at Walgreens stores. I was so happy to meet these women who authentically share their stories online with the hopes of helping other families. They speak from their hearts, and in turn, help touch other people’s hearts.
Thank you to the team at Dr. Smith’s for bringing together such a wonderful community of moms. It was a privilege to be a part of your special day. And thank you to all the moms out there sharing your stories. You have no idea how much you inspire me.
